Dr. Lamparyk is a health psychologist specializing in gastroenterological disorders and the brain-gut connection. She has over ten years of experience researching and developing effective treatments for various GI conditions.

After completing her doctorate education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and residency at University of Minnesota Medical School, Amplatz Children’s Hospital, Dr. Lamparyk received additional training in pain associated disability syndromes and pediatric feeding disorders at the Cleveland Clinic before developing and leading the Behavioral GI Program embedded within Cleveland Clinic Children’s Pediatric Gastroenterology Department.

In this role, Dr. Lamparyk has researched and developed several psychological and behavioral protocols for treating disorders of gut-brain-interaction, complimenting medical interventions. This included developing a complex interdisciplinary group treatment program for functional constipation and encopresis, treatment protocol for functional abdominal pain related disorders, Rumination Disorder treatment, and integrated psychological care for patients coping with chronic GI conditions such as Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

In addition to GI treatment, Dr. Lamparyk also has a passion for teaching and training others in evidence-based therapy methods and integrated medical-psychological treatments. After securing a seed-funding grant from the American Psychological Association, Dr. Lamparyk developed and lead a pre-doctoral Psychology Residency Program specializing in integrated care, served as the Director of Clinical Training and Development at OhioGuidestone, the state’s largest community behavioral health agency. , and holds a faculty position at Northeast Ohio Medical College.

Outside of her private practice. Dr. Lamparyk currently serves as the Psychology Division Director and the Behavioral Gastroenterology Program Director at Akron Children’s Hospital and holds a faculty position as Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Northeast Ohio Medical College. She has been recognized as a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, Division 54, and currently serves on the board of directors of the Psychogastroenterology Section of the Rome Foundation.

When not talking passionately about GI health, Dr. Lamparyk enjoys spending time with her family and three young girls, soaking up nature, and starting home improvement projects. She is an Ohio native and “east-sider”, who grew up developing the underdog grit of a Cleveland sports fan.
